Obama don't know much!

Really? Romney was Gov. starting in '03. ClintonCare was in '92...and the clip I posted where Reagan is talking about the Dems plans to Nationalize health care is from '64.

But the 64 plan and the Hillary program are nothing like Obamacare. Both those platforms were built around a US Government program like you find in just about every other country in the world today. You know 'evil' socialism...:?

Obamacare isn't nationalized healthcare (which is a shame because it would be a MUCH better program if it were). Obamacare merely gives money to poor people so that they can buy PRIVATE insurance and tightens up a few rules and loopholes.

You are comparing apples to oranges, and Obamacare was based directly off Romneycare that's simply a inescapable fact.

Obamacare isn't nationalized healthcare" Yes it is, it's just not the final step.

"which is a shame because it would be a MUCH better program if it were)." We'll have to disagree

"was based directly off Romneycare that's simply a inescapable fact". Doesn't matter, it's still going in the wrong direction. Traditionally welfare & such has been done, if @ all, @ the State & local level. Not something the Fed. Govt. is supposed to be doing.
In the mean time Vermont passed Single Payer in '11 & had to abandon it, simply unaffordable.

"Obamacare merely gives money to poor people so that they can buy PRIVATE insurance and tightens up a few rules and loopholes." Not true, It arbitrarily set standards for policies. Large numbers of people had theirs cancelled because it didn't meet Obama's dreamed up requirements. People heard him talking about ending "Cadillac Plans" they assumed it was stuff only Bill Gates could afford but it turns out he meant really good policies are going away, mediocre care for everybody! Men now pay for coverage of female only things like PAP Smears & simular Gyn. stuff. Socialist redistribution of wealth through health care. I'm sure there are people who have coverage now that didn't, that's the vote buying part of it. If you want to read about how Obama really views health care find a copy of a book by Tom Dashiel (is from S.D & was either Speaker of the House or Senate Majority Leader) that he wrote, & published '05. In it he said the way to control health care costs was to throw senior citizens out the window when the bus is approaching. He was Obama's #1 choice for HHS Secretary when he was picking his 1st Cabinet.

Who cancelled those policies George? It wasn't the government, the government didn't tell the HMOs to drop those policies. The HMOs saw a way to exploit the system by using a loophole to cutoff unprofitable policies they didn't want to honor anymore. They didn't have to cancel those policies, they could have amended the policies to reflect the changes in the law without cancelling them. You could tell it was a scam because they immediately re-offered the same policies to same customers..but at a much higher premium.

Your example is precisely why we need to more regulation over the industry, as HMOS will always put their profits ahead of its patients.

Obamacare was just an excuse for major corporations to squeeze their customers and Obama was furious that this happened. You could make the argument that he might have foreseen this but to say it was deliberate is just not true. After all, Why would Obama do something that would cause his own plan (his landmark achievement) to backfire? This idea that it was a diabolical plot is just another rightwing conspiracy theory that makes about as much sense as Obama being a Kenyan born Muslim Terrorist sympathizer. I get you people don't like him, but sheesh...

Sounds right off the DNC script! It's insurance companies, not HMO. Dems pushed HMOs in the past as an "answer" to the problem & now you can't find a Dem who'll admit to that. ObamaCare mandates expanded coverage beyond what the old policies covered, depending on how good they were. I don't think the companies can just expand policies & price, but have to cancel & regroup. SCOTUS ruled ObamaCare to be a tax. Should have just declared it Un-Constitutional on its face or if it's a tax it's still Un-Constitutional because the Bill originated in the Senate, tax bills have to originate in the House. But, anyhow, If policies cover more the charge goes up. If you raise taxes on a company prices go up because taxes, like all expenses, are passed on to the customer. If Obama was actual "furious" about prices going up after a tax increase he's as big an idiot as many think he is. But then...many years ago the Dem who was head of the Senate Finance Committee was on Louis Rukyser's show "Wall Street Week" & the fool just couldn't grasp the concept that companies don't pay taxes, they're expenses that are passed on to the customers, only way the books will balance. As far as his plan "Backfiring" I'm sure this part of the scheme. Raise costs on the companies knowing they'll have to raise prices & then demagoge(sp?) them for the higher prices (and higher profits from the Govt. forcing people to become customers) & then say that the companies are the problem & they'll have to be eliminated. Single Provider achieved & another big step to Nationalized Health Care. Some Dems are already on the "Blame the Companies" page & the mental midgets will lap it up.
