Forgive me, I only read some of the opening posts, so this may have some repeats in it.
I think that using the Atomic bomb was advisable to prevent the loss of hundreds of thousands of American lives in addition to thousands of Japanese lives.
The dropping of the bomb also stopped the war much quicker than an invasion would have, and ultimately left Japanese people in control of Japan, rather than having an Allied holding force there for years afterward, like in Berlin.
The atomic bomb is one of the rare cases where the ends justified the means
