1 km = 100 dam

I would say that a decameter (dam) is equal to 10 meters (m). And that makes 1 kilometer (km) equal to 100 dam. (Since 1 km equals 1000 metres).
It is quite easy to mix the decameter with decimeter. The later one is 1/10 of a meter. If the question had been how many dm there is on 1 km the answer would have been 10.000
