A spectacular flight over the Lofoten area of Northern Norway, filmed from an F-16 from the Royal Norwegian Air Force to commemorate the 40 years since the F-16's first flight on 20. January 1974.

Enjoy.

Very nice, Norway is a very beautiful country, to bring some Ringnes and be on a tur and enjoy the amazing landscape of fjords and mountains.

Indeed it is amazing scenery and it makes me want to put forward my plans to see it.
Still I think what impressed me the most was the quality of the image I wouldn't mind having that sort of resolution on my phone.

:)

The scenery is great, but those rocks look too bloody hard and too bloody close.

Yeah they are probably hundreds of yards away, but unless I have my hands on the steering wheel and my foot on the accelerator, I'd like to be further away thank you.

Old age sharpens one's sense of self preservation enormously.

Clearly we drive on different roads.
:)
Well, it was either that, or there was a good chance I may never see my old age.
About the most daring thing I do now is take my trusty old 600XR Honda chookchaser up the road with the speedo needle pegged out for a few miles to decarbonise her innards. It was tuned for desert racing and I've never bothered to detune it, consequently it carbons up puttering around the town at less than about 130kph. but it's nice to know that she can get up on her back legs fairly smartly should I feel the need.

Norway can be quite expensive, but it is a nice place and the people are friendly. There are also a lot of ship wrecks from the war to visit if you are into scuba diving; I am not doing that so I don't know exactly where they are.

Yep everyone mentions the expense but given that I don't have to worry about air fares as I will just add it to the end of a work trip the costs are reduced significantly. The plan was to cover Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark in one hit.

I know you are into the Second World War and there are historical places in Norway, Denmark, and Finland to visit. Sweden doesn't have much to offer in that regard, the Thirty Years War and the wars between Denmark, Russia, and Sweden up to 1809, yes.
There is a castle (Skokloster) in Sweden in which they have an armory with old weapons and armor. The Castle is not so far from Stockholm, if it is worth a visit? I don’t know, I have never been there.

To be honest I would probably be more interested in the older history than the ww2 stuff.

I can see a tank anywhere but viking stuff is a little rarer.

There is a nice museum in Stockholm; the Vasa museum. The Vasa ship, it sank in 1628 and they found it in late 1960s or early 1970s. I have been to this museum, when I was 12 so I don’t remember much of it. The Army museum in Stockholm may offer interesting stuff when it comes to the wars between the Danes, the Norse, the Russians, the Poles, and the Swedes. I have never been there

The Viking stuff is harder to find. There is a Viking ship in a museum in Oslo, Norway. In Sweden; the place I am thinking of is Birka, a Viking town west of Stockholm, I have never been there. The island Gotland may have more Viking related stuff at the museums in Visby. They have a medieval week in Visby every summer; I have never been to it either.

Actually Gotland is one place I would love to go, it has a rather interesting history.

Yes, Gotland is a nice place. It is a popular vacation destination for Swedes and others. They have a lot of activities from June to August for tourists.

One way to explore Norway is to embark on one of the cruise ships between Oslo to Kirkenes, Hurtigruten. You don't need to take the whole journey, but to take the cruise between Trondheim and Narvik can be a nice alternative

I had thought about a Baltic cruise from Denmark which included Polish ports, but as it is scheduled for my 3rd vacation (I have Turkey this year, Germany, Holland and Belgium next year and then Scandinavia the following year) I have not got too far into the planning with the family.
