North Korea is a prosperous country, you ignorants didn't know huh?

I should have probably put this under the Humor section, but I swear this is real:

North Korea is a strong and prosperous country...

Chinese Communist Party Chairman Hu said this to Kim Jong Il about the poorest country in the northern hemisphere. Read the communique:

"He said he is convinced that the DPRK side will, under Kim's leadership, make new achievements in building a strong and prosperous country with unity and arduous work".

But there's more! Read on:

"The friendship has not only pushed forward the socialist construction of the two countries, but also promoted peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula, Northeast Asia and the world at large".

Source.

Holy cow this is ridiculous.

They have some great staff writers in the old DPRK public relations office. They seriously do. While it's all fiction, the quality of the writing is often quite good. Very visual, with good use of subtle, nuanced language. It's fun to read sometimes, and can be persuasive in a wacky sort of way.

As I have pointed out in another thread, in that culture saving of face is one of the most important things. You all need to understand once and for all that North Korea is not a threat to anyone because China will handle the situation. As is the case with Chinese policy and national strategy, they will stabilize things with NK to keep the region trouble-free especially with the olympics coming to Bei jing.

The only way to do this without military action is to allow the Morocco Mole to save face, hence saying that NK is prosperous and powerful. Although this is not true, by making a public statement like that KJI is now able to "work with" China towards an end to the tensions. Although this sounds strange that it would be that important, it is.

Back when Nixon went to China, an old woman was being followed by photographers as she shopped. Although she was poor, she bought many things and spent way more than she needed to. Afterward, she begged the merchants to let her return all of the items saying that she had only done that so that the west would see that China is prosperous. She was nationally recognized for doing this and held up as a national example. True story.

Eventually, a deal will be made with Taiwan as well. The proper face-saving strategy has to be found and implemented, that's all.

1. Pressuring North Korea would instead drive this nation into greater hostility.
2. China is trying to implement a more "praising" approach to temper a somewhat "insane" leader. You certainly do not want to anger Kim Jung Il.
3. Chinese CCP members often use the words "Peace, prosperity, cultural exchanges, economic cooperation, and social development" in their speeches and somewhat has become a rhetoric. And get accustomed to this.
4. Lastly China, South Korea, and Japan borders very closely to North Korea. Surely neither of these countries want to use negative characteristics in regards to N.Korea in their diplomatic comminques.

I am stationed about 7 kilometers from North Korea and I'm on an island that takes about 5 hours to get to by boat.
I am also bored to death.
We could use a war about now. Get this over with.

Do you have a General McArthur there to handle the situation?
