Did you hear about the old man who was
driving his Corvette, when a state trooper
started chasing him, lights and siren blazing?

The old man went faster, and faster,
until they were doing over 100 miles an
hour. Finally he decided the trooper
wasn't going to give up, so he slowed
and stopped.

The trooper was livid until he asked the
old man why he ran when he saw the
patrol car behind him.

The old man told the trooper that over
20 years ago his wife had run off with
a state trooper, and he was afraid the
trooper was trying to bring her back.

Topic: The punchline man - the punchline.

The punchline to the joke is as follows:

"The trooper was so impressed by the man's fast thinking and originality that the trooper forgot to give the man a ticket".

The morale of the story is - "When faced by the immediate possibility of censure and monetary fine, remember, 'Baffle by fancy footwork and obscure by BS' will cop the ticket every time".
