Man, I hope you're kidding ... we worked hard as #$%@ to make a name for ourselves back in the day. But just in case: These were the names for women in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, respectively.

Like all the WACs, I started out at Fort McClellan, Alabama ...went from there to Fort Ben Harrison, IN for AIT. Spent some time as a clerk typist at MTMC in Bayonne, NJ (we lived at Fort Hamilton, NY, though) then retrained as a transportation/movement specialist at Fort Eustis, VA and stayed there until I got out.

Yeah, they did disband the WAC in the mid 1970s. I was glad at the time to become a member of the regular Army, but since then, I've been kind of sad about it. We were proud of our Corps.

Welcome to the Milforum Betty. Were you at Fort Harrison before or after the construction of the Officer's Club that was built by the Italian POWs?
