Welcome to the forum, trigger, good luck with your career.

For anyone who may be wondering, 89D is the MOS for an EOD specialist.

 WB Mat. Have you finished BCT or are you a DEPer? I noticed you said "fellow soldiers" so I'm assuming you've finished BCT.

I knew what you meant, just a subtle reminder ;)

Let me know if you have questions about your chosen career field, I've been an EOD tech for thousands of years now.

Welcome Trigger.

Blowing things up is always fun, especially from 15-20km away.. :D

locate it, identify it, blow it?

Well, essentially - yes. Locate, ID, render safe. That could mean popping an IED with a .50 cal, strapping on a block of C4 w/ det on your local cache of UXOs or it could mean sitting up real close and personal to a little bitty device that has a huge boom potential and playing with some tiny wires. This can be a very simple or complicated field, depending on any given situation. One thing to remember is that it is serious work, and if you don't focus - you can get yourself and/or your teammates killed.

I'm 18 and enlisted in the Navy. I'm very interested in EOD too...and I'm a female. Good luck in your military career Trigger...and welcome to the forum!
