It won't be any more of a competitor than the Typhoon or Rafale but, if built in sufficient numbers it can be a threat to the F-22A and F-35. Regardless of of improvements, the other American fighters, F-15s, F-16s, F/A-18E/F, etc. are in danger as far as aerial combat goes.
