The competitors are:

Gripen NG, Typhoon, Rafele, F-18 E/F, SU-35BM, MIG-35 and F-16 block 60

The RCS of the Stealth Eagle I have heard reported to be by ppl I basically trust (no official data out yet) "lower than the F-35 *export* version".

Modern AWACS detect targets of 1m2 RCS 250~300 km away, here their maximal effective detection range dispersed on models AFAIK:
  • F-15C & Su-27 (RCS = 10~15m2): 450 ~ 600 km
  • Tornado (RCS = 8 m2): 420 ~ 500 km
  • MIG-29 (RCS = 5 m2): 370 ~ 450 km
  • F/A-18C (RCS = 3 m2): 330 ~ 395 km
  • F-16C (RCS = 1.2 m2): 260 ~ 310 km
  • JAS39 (RCS = 0.5 m2): 210 ~ 250 km
  • Su-47 (RCS = 0.3 m2): 185 ~ 220 km
  • Rafale (RCS = 0.1~0.2 m2): 140 ~ 200 km
  • F-18E (RCS = 0.1 m2): 140 ~ 170 km
  • MIG-42 (RCS = 0.1 m2): 140 ~ 170 km
  • EF2K (RCS = 0.05~0.1 m2): 120 ~ 170 km
  • F-35A (RCS = 0.0015 m2): 50 ~ 60 km (NOTE: NOT the export)
  • F/A-22 (RCS < or = 0.0002~0.0005 m2): < or = 30 ~ 45 km

Do not know whether it is you stating that or another author you are citing, but you probably lost a "0" somewhere on the way:

.0002-.0005 m2 is the speculated F22 RCS

And perhaps speculating about such things is not the wisest of choices

Anything not based on data set in stone is "speculation" or should be called so.

I just wonder how well will the new variant of the F-15SE will compare to the F-35A in the air defense role? There won't be enough F-22s for NORAD, so will this new F-15 be a better option than the F-35A?

Am I correct in that 0.0002 to 0.0005 equals areas of 2mm by 2mm to 5mm by 5mm? Damn, that is small.

All the information released by the USAF in order to get Congress to go along with the F-22 program, do you really feel the US mass media is the problem? Do you really feel the KGB/GRU has less accurate information than the US mass media.... I don't think the mass media has more information that many intelligence agencies in the world.
The KGB had provided the Soviet AF commander the complete and accurate technical specs of the F-117 in the mid-1980s, years before Congress or the US press found out. The Soviet AF did not believe the information until after the PGW#1!
In the USA, conservatives release information in an effort to sell weapon's program, liberals release information in an effort to defeat weapon's programs. To anyone or organization collecting information, these are good sources.
Hell.... I was able to obtain enough information on the USS Seawolf that I was able to make detail drawings for a RC model sub, including the prop and pump jet propulsor!
