I'm looking to find a quote (preferably from a significant individual) that shows a link between experience gained through athletics and military leadership. It can also be something relating sports to statecraft, politics and/or cultural understanding in a positive way. A quote about sports bringing nations of all backgrounds together could also work well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

hmm.. maybe search for an old greek saying about the olympics? they were created to bring the factions together and stop war, and it deasl with sports.

Good luck :)

He who stands on toilet is high on pot? Good?

Ok ok, how about this one?
Winning means winning.
Winning does not mean winning over others.
Winning means winning over the discord in ourself.

Keith Miller, Australian test cricketer and WW2 vet on being asked about the pressure on playing test cricket.

"Pressure,"

"I'll tell you what pressure is.

Pressure is a Messerschmitt up your arse.

Playing cricket is not."
