I understand this post is dripping with sarcasm, but it's an interesting point. In fact it was a Hindu symbol for good luck. The native indian culture also used it (later in history) and did so independently from the Asian continent. I bring this up as it is relevant to the original point - that of revisionism and symbolism.

Just becuase the Nazi salute has been adopted by the Third Reich does not make it inherently evil. It's the use of it in history that is evil. The Nazi Navy, for example, kept on using the standard salute - doesn't make them less or more evil. It is our actions rather than our symbols that make us evil.
