Navy to get Akula-class N-subs soon

23 March 2006: The Indian Navy will get on lease two long-awaited Russian Akula-class submarines for operational and training purposes.
During the Russian prime minister, Mikhail Fradkov's visit to New Delhi last week, Russia agreed to provide the two nuclear submarines on a lease cost of $10 million.
Although the lease period has not been decided, officials said it is not less than three years.
The navy urgently needs to train its personnel on board a nuclear submarine.
The Russian submarines had problems of poor electronics and noise but these have been rectified
