The U.S. Navy relieved Cmdr. Christopher Rankin of command of a squadron of EA-6B aircraft aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower because of a loss of confidence in his ability to command. Rankin is being investigated on unspecified charges, said Cmdr. Kevin Aandahl of the U.S. 5th Fleet based in Bahrain. Aandahl said loss of confidence includes a range of scenarios, from bad judgment to inappropriate conduct.
