A naval Warhawk?

No. I don't think they were used as naval fighters. That is how the aircraft were delivered to distant bases. The small escort carriers, some of which were converted merchant ships, transported the aircraft and pilots to bases in the Pacific and possibly other theaters.

I found these rare and amazing photos showing Curtiss P-40 Warhawk on the deck or operating on aircraft carriers. There was a naval version of this fighter? To see the photos, visit the link below:

Best Regards!

This was a quite common procedure for transporting fighter planes to far-out bases. In 1941 P-36 fighters were moved to Hawaii in this way - loaded aboard in port and flown off the carrier when approaching the destination. The British moved Hurricanes and Spitfires in this way to Malta - even on US carriers.

Those that used it the most were actually the Japanese.

The most extreme operation of this kind would have to be the "Doolittle Raid". B-25's flown off a carrier.

What, in my opinion, is most interesting with those P-40 pictures is that they are catapulting them!
