Ok guys Oceana wasn't on the BRAC list ( good news) Now the bad news, I saw on channel 10 last night that one of the people on the committie told the Navy to "find a way to close Oceana" Now, I live basically on final for all flights to Oceana, They fly right over my house at apx 500', with gear down and full flaps. I even hear the engines running at night when their testing a newly installed engine ( man is it loud too :) ) If they close Oceana, what will the base turn into? I've heard race track, or regional airport, I don't like the idea of a regional airport next door to me at all.
 
Well thats just great, the way this place works the devil (I mean mayor) and her minons (I mean city council) will have Oceana empty for years until they can figure a way to buy the land and have contractors build 300,000 houses on it. and lie about what used to be there. I'd rather have Jets flying over my house all day.
 
Then youd love the field trip I just went on Friday with my 11 year old to NAS Oceana :) we saw teh Tomcats ( last flight out of Ocenan in Sept)
And the new Superhornets, The Superhornets still look like a lawndart, but one hell of a lawndart, VF84 has one sitting static in teh hanger to be looked at and it has the same paint scheme that they used to have when I first joined teh Navy, boy is it SWEET.
We did teh flight simulator for the F14 too, I was the only one out of the parents and kind that landed on te carrier and caught the 3 wire, no prize or medal, but all the kids went woooow.
Should have seen the Lt that was escorting us around:)
