My prediction for the 2009 SHOT SHOW

Remington will introduce a new camo pattern called "Sofa Cushion". Sofa Cushion will resemble the lint, old coins, crayons, a tv remote and anything else you find when you lift up sofa cushions.

This exciting new camo pattern will be offered on the 870 (with a 30" barrel only) and the Remington 700 chambered in 7mmSTW.

Winchester, still unemployed, will show up and be refused entry. Poor fellow smells like he hasn't bathed in months. He will root through the cigarette butts in the ashtrays in the lobby.

Marlin will declare that all lever actions should be stainless in the first place and they will only offer laminated stocks cause they CAN. When pushed by the press for the reason behind this they will will laugh derisively and declare: "Who else you gonna get a lever gun from? Henry? Browning? Hahahahahahaha. If you bitches know what is best for you you will be doing more buying than talking!"

Colt will again haul out their cardboard booth (vintage 1986). This two dimensional representation will be updated to reflect their current offerings, well, as updated as you can get with a can of spray paint. Unfortunately the 10mm Delta Elite is theoretically offered but someone had already painted over that picture. Sorry.

Bushmaster will introduce their first "retro" AR-15. It will be barney purple, with sights that don't align properly and an un-staked gas key. Awesome!

Browning will introduce an exiting(!) new(!) pump rifle (?) that is so bizarre looking you can't tell the muzzle end from the buttplate, nor how to operate the action (?). It was designed by an Italian design firm that normally works exclusively for Beretta.

Beretta, when they see this creation will act all hurt and quietly hide their version of the same rifle(?).

Glock will offer no new products and instead of a traditional booth will instead just have a bunch of plastic trash cans filled with Glocks. You have to dig to find the 10mm models, sparky.

Smith & Wesson will decide the age of the snub nose is over and instead put 7.5" barrels on all of their revolvers. Oddly, a Model 60 with a 7.5" barrel is still lighter than a Ruger SP101.

Ruger will introduce four new calibers for their Number 1. None of the factory reps can name all of the new calibers, but they are pretty sure that 6.8spc is one of them(?). Whatever.

They will have a new short barreled single action revolver chambered in 32 Long and it is offered only in nickel with a bird's head faux ivory grip. It is called the Western Harlot and is meant primarily to meet a vast need in the Cowboy Action Shooting world.

The Mini 14 will be made with an absorbent stock and will now be called the Maxi 14. How sweet is that?

Trijicon's booth will emit an unearthly green glow. Freaky, but cool. Very cool...

Aimpoint will increase the battery life of their scope to 12,500 years at half power.

Hornady will introduce the new .42 Special caliber. Ruger will naturally already have a firearm chambered for it, and Hornady will leave the SHOT show to sweep their factory for listening devices and to root out the mole.

Mossberg will introduce a less expensive version of their Model 500 shotgun. It features a new protective finish called R.U.S.T. that is quite sturdy and possibly infectious.

More predictions....

Despite of the media only photography rule, there will be hundreds of pics posted here months before a single SHOT show picture appears in a monthly gun rag.

Magpul will introduce their sling mount and bolt release. But you still cant buy the circa 2007 lower or 2008 MBUIS, blue or pink PMAGs.

Hornady will break tradition and will not introduce a new caliber in colaboration with Marlin or Ruger this year.

Someone will hump the Armalite Lion again.

FN will give its employees a safety brief every day before the doors open. Yes, the no loaded guns rule applies to you too, FN. (FN had a ND in 2008)

Eagle Industries will have several cool new bags with "Discreet" somewhere in the model name. Most of them will be stolen, discretely, by the end of the show.
