In early November, the FBI and Houston police learned that six suspected members of Mara Salvatrucha, a violent Central American gang known as MS-13, were raiding a house on Liberty Street where a rival gang had stashed drugs.

MS-13 - the focus of a nationwide crackdown by FBI and federal immigration agents - has become known in recent years for home invasion robberies, drug dealing and machete attacks on its enemies. But what happened in Houston on Nov. 2, FBI and Houston police officials say, has heightened concerns that MS-13 could be far more dangerous than thought.

Welsh Warrior might want to strike DC and the DC metro area from his tourist spots as well. MS13 has been a major criminal presence here for years. In recent months there have been several successful prosecutions of gang members. As well as recent articles talking about MS13 recruiting and conscription activities.
I was in El Salvador several years ago and had the opportunity to talk to some law enforcement types there. They painted an interesting scenario. Talking about low level unsophisticated criminals making there way to the US where they learn more sophisticated criminal activities and establish gang-organizations. When apprehended, the gang members were deported back to El Salvador with their new skill sets. Hence the US is incarcerating them here vice deporting them back "home". Sosomewhere, someone decided it was better for the US taxpayer to pay the frieght on their incarceration vice the cheaper route of sending them back.

Another revelation from the Feebies. Dang I'm glad they figured it out. DEA, ATF&E, USMS, ICE, CBP ,local and State Cops have known this for awhile.

What they are doing now is full bore prosecution of MS13 members for a variety of Federal and State Laws. If you can confirm that a guy is a MS13 member he doesn't get any passes and goes to the head of the line.

Before ICE and the immigration courts would defer some charges or let the member sign stipulation for deportation and return to El Sal. El Sal has also been at times a Refugee Status Nation and our own laws made deportation difficult.

Whats happened in the last year is DOJ recognizing that MS13 is a criminal organization and thus it's members are subject to all the Statutes in RICO, and have been hitting them hard. DEA, ICE, ATF&E, USSS, USMS and countless state and local agencies have worked alot of overtime to put together alot of cases and have hit some pretty good licks in certain areas like New Jersey, Northern Virginia, the DC area and the Southwest.

What the Taxpayers are paying incarceration costs for are the Crimes committed in the US. When or if these guys are released (depending on their sentence) they will go directly into ICE custody for deportation proceedings.
