Moussaoui was sentenced to Colorado's SuperMax ... a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Moussaoui will spend 23 hours out of every 24 hours in a 7' X 12' cell (isolation) ... his cell is almost a bare cubbyhole of concrete. It contains a sink, a toilet, a bed, a black and white closed circuit television (the only tv fare will be religious and educational shows selected by the authorities). ... he will be allowed 1 hour of personal exercise (with chains attached). He will never again be allowed the company of man (with the exception of guards and periodic visits by family and lawyers).
At the sentencing, the judge told Moussaoui that he had best make the best of his speech before the court ... it would be the last time in this lifetime that he would be able to address the public (or) see the outside world ... he will die in prison without ever again having access to the press ... his correspondence will be so heavily edited that he would not recognize it as something he wrote.
His death at the hands of an executioner, would have made Moussaoui a martyr ... a life sentence shows the world that all he really is, is a sorry excuse of a terrorist who got his just deserts.
Moussaoui will live out his life in the gray walled cells of a SuperMax Prison ... he will live long enough to realize it would have been better IF he had received the death sentence.
Who is to say which is worse ... an execution or having nothing to look forward to but more endless days of nothingness, stretching out for years ... knowing you will end up dying behind the gray walls of prison.
