Missing in America
At funeral homes across the country, an unknown number of veterans’ ashes go unclaimed. Legionnaires are helping to give them proper burial and honors.

Not much is known about Paul Albert Pickel. Born July 9, 1905, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received the Bronze Star Medal with four Bronze Stars. He died March 1, 1975. Only last year, Pickel was finally laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. For three decades, his cremated remains (cremains) went unclaimed, denied the military burial he'd earned.

Just goes to show that Veterans Organizations are more than a bunch of old guys sitting around in a bar.

From the VFW supplying phone cards to military personnel overseas (0peration Uplink) to various organizations supplying honor guards for funerals. These organizations serve all veterans.

Unfortunately, our veterans, servicemen and women are always the first to serve our country, are also willing to give up their lives and protect us and our country from evil...an yet, they are always the last to be served in more than many ways...how ironic...??? I thank God for the opportunity to have been raised in a military family that educated and taught me the importance of appreciation towards our military :)
