Mishmash

Looks like a supressive device, albeit in a very "suggestive" shape. I wonder how well it works/worked.
 
The story I got suggests a proving ground in Germany where the locals are picky about not having their siestas rudely interrupted by military testing. I don't have an accurate source to back that up, though; just a nifty pic.
