Military Rank Insignias

yup, werhemet style, old german world war II

altogether i think the collar style looks old and imperial, the to shoulder ones look serious and honrable while the ones on the sides of the shoulder looks combat-ready

"Norway doesn't have NCO's, I've explained a bit about the Norwegian rank system here"

Isn't sersjant an NCO? Korporal is maybe similar to our korpraali LCpl, wich is not NCO. Not sure but all norwegian squads i have seen seemed to have sergeant (three stripes) in charge. Is sersjant the lowest NCO rank in Norway?

Finnish ranks in english (land forces):

And the same ranks originally in finnish:

And in swedish (finnish ranks are officially both in finnish and swedish):

Hmm, well according to your link, Prince Phillip would seem to be the exception to your observation of only "some stupid person trying to invade". I also believe there are at least one or two Field Marshal's still living retired. I seem to recall watching a show about the Falklands conflict in which one of the British officers interviewed was a Field Marshal.

I'd still like to hear from somebody from the UK or Commonwealth who's actually served in the armed forces.
