Military Protocol Gone Amok

WHILE ON Navy business during a snowstorm in Arlington, Va., I saw a Marine Corps staff car trying to climb the slippery hill outside the unit's headquarters building. When the occupants realized they couldn't make it to the gate, four officers climbed out of the car and started to push. Soon after, three enlisted Marines walked over to offer assistance and, per regulations, saluted. The officers stepped aside, snapped to attention and returned the salute and the car slid back down the hill.

But a smart officer would have said "Thank you, carry on" and not turned loose of the vehicle lol. Like was said, sometimes grunts get even !!

On the same note, it thrills me to death to see an officer carrying something in both hands, I snap him/her a sharp salute with a motivated "good day sir/maam!" and bite my cheek as they juggle the items to return the salute.
