Milforum Upgraded to vBulletin 3.7.2 Today!

The fire is everything
Staff member
I've finally found some time to upgrade the forums to the latest version of vBulletin (from 3.6 to 3.7.2) :jump:

Many new features have been added and many more will follow real soon...

Here's a short overview of some of them:

Thread tagging
Tags are a useful way to search for threads with similar subject matter and content. This compliments the normal search system, which searches only for certain words or phrases and/or posts by specific users.
To use tags, you add words or phrases to threads to help describe the content.

Vbulletin's info about tags

you can see the tags for this thread at the bottom (for logged in members)

A "tag cloud" is also available if you click the "Search" button on the top menu and choose "Thread Tags".
There aren't too many tags in there yet since this system is new, but I'll try to add tags to as many threads as possible soon, and a tag cloud will also be added on the index page (for logged in members)

Public Messaging
While private messages between users have been in vBulletin since version 2.0, vBulletin 3.7 introduces the public messaging system, allowing users to communicate publicly via their profile pages.

User Picture Galleries
vBulletin users can now create albums and upload pictures to their account (through your profiles).

User-Created Social Groups
To further social cohesion between users and to encourage people to make friends, vBulletin now includes a facility to allow users to create their own social/interest groups.

New Member Profile Page
In order to accommodate all the new features in vBulletin 3.7, the member profile page has been completely redesigned from the ground up.

The new page presents information in a far cleaner and more logical manner, while dividing up information into manageable chunks using a tabbed interface.

Member Customization of Profile Page
You'll be able to (almost) fully customize the look/style of your profile page by choosing background images, font style and colors, border types etc..

Inline Editing of Profile Field Values
The 'About Me' tab of each member's profile page has edit controls, allowing them to quickly change values without leaving their profile page.

Attachment Viewing Lightbox
Clicking on an attached image will now open a lightbox rather than open a new window, with the image scaled to fit the browser viewport. A click on the image in the lightbox will open it in a new window as before.
