SAN DIEGO -- The Marine Corps is no longer allowing troops who have extra-large tattoos on their arms to serve as recruiters or security guards at U.S. embassies.
Marine Corps spokesman Capt. Carl Redding said Monday that the service's top general has extended a regulation on these so-called "sleeve" tattoos on biceps and forearms.
Redding said Gen. James T. Conway noted in his new order that recruiters and embassy guards have "significant impact on public perception" because of their daily dealings with civilians.

Ain't it amazing what the puzzle palace can find to worry about when we've got Marines deployed in combat zones?

Because you just know that a sleeved out Marine just can't be as good as one who's not.

If it's that big of an issue, apply makeup to cover it up when they stand guard.
I don't understand this fluffy, friendly Marine Corps B.S.

Certain powers that be at the Puzzle Palace have a Pouges eye view of the Corps. They hem and haw about the Corps being combat ready and yada yada. Then come out with taping and military appearance regs....notice not combat readiness. And tattoo regs.

In South Korea the only reason they have the tattoo regs (it's uniform across the board) is because only gang members who are active in their group have elaborate tattoos that wouldn't pass. It's a cultural thing. So either you leave your gang and get rid of your tattoos or you're staying out.
But that'll probably change as tattoos become more prevalent.
