I am interested in being an MP in the marines. Could anyone tell me the bennifits and drawbacks to that particular career path. and does anyone know if there would be any openings in that field so I dont get stuck in delayed entry for a year.

I will tell youone big drawback is that you will not have lots of friends outside of PMO. Several people I knew were PMO and worked it into a civillian job when they got out. Lots of boredom and gate watching. Oh yeah and more saluting than any other Marines on the base.

Just because you enlisted with a 5800 contract does not mean you get to be a Provost Marshal Office M.P.. You might get assigned as a Brig Guard.
or might get assigned to FSSG where you deploy with BSSG's and CSSG's as a "Field MP".
