Hi, has any one here read the book, A Peace to End All Peace or any related works? I'm currently researching the Middle East and was wondering if anyone could contribute. I always found the Ottoman Empire in World War I especially interesting and if anyone knows anything along those lines that could help me, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

I did a little search on Amazon and I used "Middle East and The World War One", I got a lot of interesting literature that you might find interesting. Are you doing this at a college or at a university? If you are doing so and it is a preparation for a Master thesis, you must be very precise about your research, I mean, narrow it down a bit. Begin with the purpose of your research, from the research question, which you will answer-the theory you are using, is it a normative approach, descriptive, and/or a theory developing approach. These questions may help you to narrow it down and it also will help you to find the empirical material you need

A lot of the problems in the M.E. are the result of "Line Drawers" just drawing lines on the map after WWI.

I read about that and couldn't believe all the bureaucracy and red-tape that went into it. Just politicians cutting up borders in places they know nothing about.

Not necessarily, they drew borders along rivers and mountain ranges etc. where possible but the problem was that they never took into account tribalism or religion.

Thanks for the advice. I'm just doing this research on my own time and I've always found the history of the Middle East to be fascinating. Do you know any titles on this subject that you could recommend? Thanks a lot!

If you do not want to buy these books, check out your local library, even better, if you have a College or a University close to you, check if you can use their library, or if you have a friend studying there, then you do not need to buy them
