Major Dick Winters had died

RIP Major Winters.

For the life of me I still cant understand why he never won the MOH for his actions at Brecourt Manor.

Same here, mmarsh. He should've received one.

Here's a short video of him....

RIP soldier! :salute2:

Wasn't the official explanation that only one per division could get the MoH, so he got the Distinguished Service Cross instead?

There is a campaign on the Dick Winters website to upgrade his Distinguished Service Cross to the Medal of Honor:

Yeah I know, I signed it years ago. And in other words: he got screwed due to Army Bureaucracy. Why doesn't that surprise me?

I came to know this man from the TV series "Band of Brothers", later followed by the book. From the news and report I read in the internet, he is nothing short of a true American hero.

What is more amazing about him is that he is not boastful nor is he arrogant, he wants the younger generation to know the horrors of war and the importance of having a relaible buddy or comrade in times of crisis.

May his soul rest in peace, Amen...

Still remember the show and the book. He was a good man. Inspired me to join the Para's.
RIP :salute:
