A lost piece of Korean history

It`s hard believe people can forget such things. However, hardly anyone knows what I`m talking about when I mention, say, the Banana wars (american colonialism in the early 20th century).

Just how much longer will it take North Korea to realize that Socialism isn't the answer? I don't get it. Cousins in the south aren't only more prosperous (obviously), but since the war have also become a major world economy. They all witness that fact every day. What is the point in insisting in that Marxist-Leninist nonsense?

Well... you'd have to understand North Korea to actually get that.
They can't simply brainwash the entire public into saying this is the way and then all of a sudden hit the brakes and do a 180. Though the illusion of Juche (the North Korean form of Communism) is fading due to the black market trade with China.
And North Korea isn't socialist. If you think North Korea is merely socialist, you'd think that a raging alcoholic doesn't have a drinking problem.

It's different a bit. The most noticable difference is that it reveres Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il like gods. Practically turned communism into a religion.

Ah, yeah, thanks for clearing, that somewhat reminds me of the CCCP of the Stalin era. I guess when a man is considered greater than the political idea he's expected to run, that idea is bound to collapse eventually.

Lost Piece of Korean History

I've just read through the link provided.... This is a story that needs to be told, not as a means of glorifying war, but as a reminder to the American people that their military men & women still step up to the mark, irrespective of the base manner in which the US media & politicians spin things to suit their own ends.....

I dont know mates... North Korea is an interesting country... Sometimes, I like to think "what if we were the brainwashed ones"... It's just that we are all brainwashed.

Our lives are more confortable, but at what cost?

For me, North Korea is a dream that turned into a nightmare...

LeMask, Communism in itself is a dream turned into a nightmare.
Our lives are more comfortable but at what cost?
Unprecedented lack of tyranny.
Unnaturally predictable, regular and abundant supply of clean water and fresh food.
Hmmm... what else?
