London torched.

The scumbags are torching our cities. In their hundreds on the streets overnight smashing, looting and torching buildings, shops with residents above, private homes, attacking police; burning rows of cars; ferral criminals even looting charity shops. These places are not poverty- stricken; indeed some are among the best areas. Fires raging all over London; police out- numbered.

Napoleon said, Give em a whiff of grape! That'd calm them down. Too bad the shop owners can't use riot guns on them.

So when your diplomatic corps tries to tell other countries what to do (and they do) don't be surprised when other countries ignore them.

I think the new SEC DEF should do something useful like ask for a emergancy session with Congress....

To rienstate the lend lease act,

Due to the situation with our British allies abroad, and to avoid direct American entanglement the U.S. will use it's massive military industrial production and transport capabilities to make an emergancy airlifts of hundereds of thousands of various non lethal devices...

Like ammunition...

I mean you can clearly see now it's just crime for crime's sake, you can literally see on social networks that kids are posting images of rooms of stuff they STOLE.

And I ain't talking cheap stuff either!

My heart goes for the small business owners, and property owners who already have enough to deal with in a slowing global economy, some are now even on the streets or homeless.

They have my condolences. : (

Oh come on you guys do this nonsense with monotonous regularity, I am sure Gaius Suetonius Paulinus wrote the same story when some Centurion gave Boudica kick in the pants back in 60AD.

It will burn itself out in a few days and things will get back to normal until next years "rioting season".

Yeah right, every 70 years or so, every world war, we have one Monty. Firebomb blazes all over the cities of Britain, masses of building s and homes destroyed, lots of people left with notnig, no homes; Hackney, Tottenham, Enfield, Croydon, clapham Common, Clapham Junction, Camden, Peckham, Lewisham, Waltham Abbye, Walthamstow, Waltham Forest, Ealing, Leeds, Manchester (worst violence ever seen), Liverpool, Nottingham, Birmingham, West Bromwich, Wolverhampton, Bristol. etc.etc. Hundreds of ordinary peoples cars parked on the road, city centres smashed emptied, burnt out, like Dresden in places. Hundreds of deliberate fires threatening houses, homes attacked and robbed. Mindless greed by criminal gangs enjoying themselves, destroying their environments. Arrests already thousand plus; millions pledging support for the police. Three million responses to supply info re. identification.

These criminals are very naughty boys indeed .

Now I realise that many of these riots were "small" events by comparison to the current riots but lets not pretend that the only fire bombings in England were the work of the Luftwaffe.

Seems to me that about every 5 years you lot have riots.

No - . let's not pretend we have seen the like of this before; not since the blitz and the streets were even more dangerous than that. People were under seige. I have lived through all the years of racial struggles; read what I have told you, and multiply by 100, you won't cover it. 20,000 unanswered emergency calls to police in one night. People under siege in their homes, workers under siege where they work, trying to lock themselves in. Restaurants attacked with customers inside. Stations under siege. All city centres looted and wrecked. Thousands of jobs and job opportunties up in smoke. Men ordered to strip on the street, to be robbed of their jeans and trainers. Guys lying injured on the pavement picked up and robbed and left. Street- fulls of cars wrecked or burnt. Guys run down and killed on the pavement.

You have no idea, those previous immigrant mostly isolated spats have never compared with this nationwide concerted attack by raiding gangs of up to 300 descending en masse again and again, never standing still en masse , changing targets like locusts, spreading fire as they moved. Absolutely unconcerned about police, challenging them.

Breaking into houses terrorising residents. Smashing down the windows of Notting Hill restaurants and robbing tourists of their cash and jewelry at their tables. As one American lady said " the most expensive meal i ever had".

Your list were standing confrontations and protests gone wrong.

Come and join us in the Olympic run-up. Enjoy.

Crime for crime's sake at this point, any other reason is inexcusable.

This brings to mind imgages of middle eastern revolts and uprisings.

I know it's not on the same contextual lines, but when you look at the photos it's what it reminds you of.

Visually speaking only of course

An English social commentator was interviewed on the news several nights ago. He closed his remarks by saying that he personally thought that much of the riotous behaviour was the result of bottled up tensions that have been building for years, because the perception by the poorer socioeconomic classes, that they were voiceless and therefore powerless, and this was further exacerbated by the examples of less than ethical behaviour by the country's ruling classes that seem to be getting uncovered almost every day.

Ahmadinejad urges UN to react on Britain riot
By Nasser Karimi
Associated Press / August 10, 2011

TEHRAN, Iran—Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday urged the U.N. Security Council to take action over the rioting in Britain, arguing it was hypocritical in its reaction to such events.

Ahmadinejad, whose government is under international sanction for its controversial nuclear program and has been condemned by the Western countries such as Britain for its handling of protests and dissent, also called on British officials to listen to the demands of their people.

"The U.N. is silent. Human rights bodies are silent," Ahmadinejad said on state radio following a Cabinet meeting. "If one percent of this happens in countries that oppose the West, they scream until they are hoarse."

"Why is the Security Council silent?" he said, also questioning its willingness to take action directed at one of its five veto-wielding permanent members.

Iran's nuclear file has been a fixture before the council, where the United States, Britain, China, Russia and France hold permanent seats. The other 10 spots rotate between other U.N. member states, and the council is the only body within the United Nations that can authorize any punitive measure, including military action, on countries.

Tehran is under several rounds of sanctions for its disputed nuclear program -- one which the United States and its allies believe is aimed at developing nuclear weapons. Iran disputes that claim, saying the program is for peaceful purposes only, such as generating electricity.

Ahmadinejad's comments appear to be a direct jab at Britain, which supported the opposition movement during postelection turmoil in 2009.

Iranian opposition members say scores were killed in heavy crackdowns by government forces and militia allied to Ahmadinejad, while hundreds more were either wounded or carted off to prison. The government has said 30 people were killed in the protests.

The unrest in Britain began Saturday after an initially peaceful protest over a police shooting in a London neighborhood turned violent. It has since spread to other cities in the country.

Iranian state media has seized on the rioting as an opportunity for payback, dubbing the violence there a "civil war." Hardline lawmakers have urged London to allow an Iranian human rights delegation to monitor the situation in the country.

In comments directed at Britain's leadership, including Prime Minister David Cameron, Ahmadinejad said the officials should "stand by their own people."

"They should change their attitude, change their management and deal with their own people instead of intervening in others' affairs," he said, referring to Britain's role in Afghanistan, Iraq and its participation in the NATO airstrikes on Libya.

"They were claiming that they are a role model and advocator of freedom, human rights and democracy, but what behavior do they apply in dealing with their own people," said Ahmadinejad.

The reason Europe has more riots and soccer hooliganism is because of its low scoring sport. So many soccer matches end in 0 - 0 draws or very low scores, so Europeans leave the stadium or sit in their loungerooms with unvented tension and energy - and it all builds up.

We don't have riots in Australia because in Aussie Rules Football dozens and dozens of goals are scored in a typical games.

OK, we had one racially charged riot in Cronulla a few years ago, but that was in New South Wales which is a rugby state - same problem as soccer states in Europe and elsewhere.

Complete crap of course.

Complete crap of course.

Have you ever heard of people rioting because they were happy and content? Doesn't it strike you as an odd coincidence that riots always happen in poor, high crime, high unemployment areas?

round them up, give them 9 weeks training and a uniform and then pack them off to Afghanistan where their anger, muscle, and copious amounts of free time can be better employed.

They might also like to return innocent people's wallets and purses before they leave.

Thats a very bad idea.

The US Military (quite inadvertently) did the same thing a few years ago and a few months later cops all over the country were wondering how Crips and Bloods gang members had received military training, this after several people were killed.

This lot doesn't need anymore excitement, they get enough of that in the ghetto. What they need are jobs. Happy, calm, people don't riot.

Don't be so childish and simplistic and patronising and insulting. Much off my childhood and schooldays were spent in exactly the toughest and poorest areas of Hackney, and Tottenham and Bethnal Green, even tougher; we were much poorer then; One bedroom with five of us; one living room for us containing the gas cooker, and the coal for the fire was tipped into a cupboard in that room.; no water or sink; that was outside on the third floor landing, one cold water sink between five families; the only toilet was up another outside flight of steps, again shared by five families; after WW11, from that home, I won the scholarship to Grammar school; poor, Yes, Happy - Yes. We all worked and dragged ourselves up, but we didn't expect others to give us anything; that is why, scholarship or not, I went to sea as soon as school was finished. So don't give me your old nonsense regarding poor areas. Doesn't it strike you as an odd coincidence that these criminals own community, and the Pakistani community, and the Sikh community and the Turkish community amongst others utterly condemn the actions of this gang culture criminality and in fact came onto the streets to confront them, and calling for increased police power and numbers and activity; they have all been under siege.. These gangs live on benefits and do not work, do not wish to work, wish to pursue their criminal stealing and drug dealing. Now they enjoy arson. They have the same education etc. offerred to them as all other communities. This is not the lumpen prolitariat, they have been shooting and knifing each other for some time. Solution after solution has been made available to them, without effect. They feed off your 'happy calm people'. They love the bragging rights. They love the gang gangster culture.

Bill Bratton time in the UK. This might happen. There is no justification whatsoever for these criminals, political or other wise, just wanton criminality .

Three Muslim young men were deliberately run down and killed it seems, another elderly man in his own leafy suberb beaten unconcious and robbed and dying with no way of knowing yet who he is. Malaysian student pulled from his bike and jaw and teeth broken, lifted from the floor and robbed then left on the pavement. (See You Tube.)

Many police injured. So far 1400 arrests and climbing. Courts are working all night.
