Lip Gloss, Diamond Ear Studs, and a Sniper Rifle

No USAF doesn't attend any MOS awarding USMC S/S course only qualified Marines and certain USN personnel attend.

S/S still doesn't have it's own career path so there is turn over within the community at high rate once 0317's hit the rank of SSgt. There is currently proposals on paper to designate a hard defined carrer path for 0317 like the new hard defined career path for the 0321 MOS that will enable the community to hold on to Marines and generate a rate of promotion within S/S instead of requiring Marines to return to their primary MOS to promote.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. Snipers need to stay in their duty position for the entire time. Some may say it will hold them back from promotion, way to get around that, create sniper companies and battalions then task them out. That way you have a sniper certified CSM. Officers may be a different story seeing as how they won't be used, however, there could be exceptions if they were to become SEO's(sniper employment officers). I think all branches would benefit greatly from having pure sniper units that way the skill never gets lost with time. Plus experience will always be there. It's hard going to help with sniper issues in the army seeing as how only 256 soldiers graduate from the school in the army per year. Snipers are less in numbers than rangers.

What do you think USMC about making pure sniper units for those purposes?

I think it would be a good idea to combine the Plt's under a Company at MEF and Division level and then attach out from there to the manuver elements as needed. That would open at least some Gunny and above billets instead of requiring them to fill the hand full of billets at the school house to stay in the community.
