Well,... it feels good to know that the old "sniffometer" is still within calibration limits. It just all seemed too good to be true. The really sad thing being that it has reflected badly on an otherwise honourable member of the Services.

Boy!! won't she cop it in the neck from those who know her.

Now I'd really like to know who was behind this story.

Sad, sad, sad.

Oh I think when the AF put out the publicity shot some trigger puller at Bragg, Benning , HAAF or Lejune saw it and told his buddies. "Hey fellas. This is gonna be way too funny!" Made up the poster put it out on the net with some bogus intel and viola.

The ground element guys especially in billets that require alot of training like Sniper, tend to get down on the AF when they try to put on a "we know all about ground combat" persona. Just my opinion.

This would be right up our old friend PJ24's alley. LOL

I don´t have the pleasure of knowing the gentleman in question (PJ24), but ofcourse this smells like a hoax.
No one, and I mean no one mans a sniper position with jewlery on.
I am also guessing that the US military issues some sort of skincream? Thus no need for lip gloss..

If it looks like a duck, walk like a duck and kvacks like a duck...Chances are it is a duck.

It's a war out there, this kind of things happen.

But I know I will get flammed for this, but dont call him a terrorist. He was trying to engage professional soldiers... It's not like if he was a suicide bomber.

And it's not a football match...

Yay, a woman can use a rifle... We finally have a proof that evolution is not BS...

And should we make a poster to every soldier who gets a confirmed kill? because every enemy shot down is potentially an ally saved. Not?

And if Islamic fundamentalist think that being killed by a woman is shameful... Well... tough world when you are so backward...

I'm very proud of you Kimmy! Keep up the good work!

Now that I read the entire thread, I did notice that her earrings are pearls and not diamonds. But I still like the idea of a lady sniper!:camo:

First of all, there are Air force Security snipers. I went to sniper school with one.

No they do not do sniper missions.

No they do not need to wear their ghillie suits.

They post up in their guard towers for the sole purpose of protecting their airstrips and secured areas with long range precision from their bases. Also to comment on the jewelry portion, in her defense, she is AIR FORCE and they got some pretty leniant rules. As far asI her wearing jewelry in the tower, THINK ABOUT IT, YOUR POSITION IS ALREADY GIVEN AWAY SEEING AS HOW YOU ARE IN A GUARD TOWER WITHIN A SECURED BASE. Man you guys crack me up LOL. Jewelry, flashlight or not, in the middle of the day. the tower is the most obvious spot.

Snipers can also be used as a show of force. Ever thought of that?

They are not what you would call a traditional sniper, however possess the skills nontheless.

As far as females, they do hold the slots there, however not sure if they attend the training. I am thinking their male counter-parts actually goto these schools and cross train their teams. Which is more likely seeing as how I could show anyone how to be a sniper in less than a week and some range time. The rest is on you.

Besides, females do make the best snipers. We were even tought this in school. Not every female of course, hell not even the majority of females, but they are more preferred. Reason being, nobody would suspect them. Aother reason, it is proven they have more patience than men. Yet another reason, a soldier is less inclined to kill a woman whom is running as opposed to a man.

The soviets actually fielded entire female sniper companies and many were successful. Sniping is asymetrical warfare. Bringing women into this equation does it even more justice. Our society and our military for some reason really has a negative view of snipers and always steers away from them. They only go back to them in a time of war. Countries like the soviet union, finland and nazi germany used their snipers to max potential and were very successful.

check out some of these female soviet snipers during WWII. It's very interesting.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roza_Shanina Roza Shanina(hottest one out of all them) credited with 54 kills and 12 snipers(very impressive)
one of the german snipers she killed, upon recovering his DOPE book, had logged around 4-500 kills. Can you imagine killing a well-trained sniper with 500 kills? Truly legendary.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyudmila_Pavlichenkon Lyudmila Pavlichenkon credited with 309 kills and 36 enemy snipers.

Do you all know how hard it is to kill 1 well-trained Sniper?

Yeah I didn't know that either until not too long ago. Kind of shocked me in a way. They can attend the US Army Sniper school (not sure if they are allowed to the marine sniping course) and receive a certificate of completion upon graduating. However, they are not logged into the system as official B4 identifier Snipers and do not receive an official diploma like the infantry guys do.

USAF also has their own sniper course, however, not as in-depth as the Army and Marine one. Upon completetion of their own course, if they are lucky, will receive a slot to the US Army one. It is very rare that you will see them there and the guy that was in my class told me in took him 2 years to get there. Wayyy too much of a hassle if you ask me.

Alot of snipers now in the modern day army usually get the bone. I have never been able to do an actual combat sniper mission. During garrison, we train as snipers but when we deploy we get tasked out for other normal line or escort crap. Most of it stems from higher ups too afraid to put guys out there or afraid of consequances. Like I said earlier, Snipers are not used the right way majority of the time.

Alot of it depends on the area you are in too. However, still frustrating. Also, alot of commanders are not properly trained on how to employ snipers nor are they in tune with the training requirements that need to be met to field snipers such as dope gathering and other issues. In a time of a full blown war however, I am sure much of this will change.

I think it would be beneficial to adopt the soviet doctine of pure sniper companies and task them out. If you have an entire chain of command and leadership that are sniper qualified, they will better allow you to train and accomdate the needs of sniper teams much better.

Sniper skills are something you need to constantly practice or else you will forget them. The army wastes money on sniper trainees then puts them in units or theaters where there are no need for sniper missions. Once they reach a certain rank, they will never do it again and fill in the roles of squad leaders and platoon sergeants. Takes around 75,000 dollars of taxpayer money to train per sniper and to learn a skill the army will never have him use.

MOS's need to be changed like the marine corp to sniper specific. That way, anywhere a sniper goes, he will always be a sniper and won't forget his skill the taxpayers paid for him to learn. make sense? hopefully...
