Kursk legacy: Will there ever be another massive tank battle?

I don't believe that armoured warfare has had its day but I do think the enormous battles of the Russian front are a thing of the past, these days nations can no longer afford to put thousands of tanks, aircraft and millions of troops in the field.

As for there being 60,000 tanks in service world wide I think it worth noting that Russia, America and Germany all produced more than 60,000 tanks and SP guns during WW2.

I agree with Monty. The losses on both sides during the battle of Kursk were absolutely horrendous. No one country can sustain such loses again. All I can see in the future are minor skirmishes (when compared to Kursk).
