Kucinich brings charges against Dick Cheney ...

Sorry to interupt the BD, P80 comedy act but:

So what would be the point in impeaching the guy being a politician he is built of teflon so nothing will stick and being a right wing republican he will wrap himself in the flag and call it security.
On the whole I think it is rather a bad move for the democrats to support this action as others have pointed out keeping them in office for the full term is probably more beneficial for the democrats that removing them.

The other thing I have wonder is whats the point 1.5 years out from the end of their term anyway?

Kind of what I was wondering. . . perhaps it is "The Principle Of The Matter" ?

Thats the way I feel. Some crimes are just so terrible that even if it doesn't have a chance of getting a conviction, its still the principle.

What does it say about our society if we allow politicians to fabricate evidence in order to justify a wars?

They can even impeach a president after his term is up...The point is they no longer get Secret Service protection, they don't get a library, they don't still get paid, they don't get a lot of things...

However I see this forum is brimming with intellectuals...

People are funny and in the end it is the same result, we are all ****ed!

Thanks for playing have a nice day ;)

A breath of fresh air.

Pelosi (along with other Democrats), stated they would NOT support HR 333.

Kucinich has steadfastly accused GW and DC of lying to the American public as to the reason for the Iraqi invasion ... as far as HR 333, Kucinich at least has the gonads to place it on the line instead of just flapping his gums - refreshing for a politician.

It is definitely a breath of fresh air.

It Irritates me Pelosi isn't supporting HR 333. Recapturing the White House is important, but so is holding people to account. So far this charade in Iraq has cost 3674 US lives, countless Iraqi lives, over 20000 wounded, almost $2 Trillion and the only one who seems to be winning anything are Iran, Islamic groups like al-Qaeda, and Hezbollah, and war-profiteers like Halliburton.

Ahh...well my statement was somewhat tongue in cheek. Afterall. . . elections are coming up.

Anyone stop to think they may have started the mudslinging early to catch any presidential hopefuls in the crossfire or by association? Thereby limiting the playing field of suitable candidates. Which would make the choice of "the lesser of two evils" easy to make.

With politics being what it is I do not doubt it. Even those of you that dislike the POTUS and Vice-POTUS have to admit this is one possible reason why they would do it now instead of 1 - 2 years ago.

Afterall what are they going to do to him? Take away his secret service and fringe benefits? He comes from big money...I doubt he cares about that.

Exactly...the only ones who seem to be winning...What about your average Iraqi citizen? Children over there? Women? So on and so forth.

There is no one in this entire world that can tell me we have done absolutely no good over there and have me believe it. So we do win, we win everyday in ways that your average person can not see or refuses to see. Let us not get started on this topic.

Edited the Mods Edit: Wasn't meant to be a back to back post. Was a post in reference to a post I saw after I answered a previous post. . . . I think that makes sense.

Simply laughable. He is quoting the DOD's version on how 'wonderful' things are in Iraq. I mean we all know the 'honesty' the DOD is capable of, just ask Jessica Lynch or Pat Tillmans family. They will tell you all about how 'credible' the DOD is.

Reading that list reminds me of listening to Nikita Krushchev description of what a wonderful place the Soviet Union was during the 'Kitchen Debates' in the 1960's.

But that lovely piece of NEOCON propaganda (no doubt written by Donald Rumsfeld) but it does remind me of this:

But getting back to your statement that I am a Jackass, maybe I am. But only a true jackass would quote a source without checking to see how BIAS THEY ARE!

I guess it takes one to know one right? Welcome to the Club, JACKASS!

Bulldogg

Brain in Neutral, Mouth in Drive. I see nothing has changed with you.

Normally I'd just ignore you, but since you insist in sticking your nose in other people's business, allow me to explain:

"Intellectual powers" is actually Pheonix's qoute, (from another thread), not mine. I was reminding him of something he said a few days ago...

Of course, You would have known that, if your name happen to be PHEONIX, and not BULLDOGG. Thats why it was addressed to him, AND NOT TO YOU. (oops.)

I might have misspelled 'Principal' but everyone makes spelling mistakes, its no big deal. I had no idea your life ambition was to be a human spell check (sounds dull), but frankly, I don't think your spelling ability is all that important when you cannot tell the difference between the names Bulldogg and Pheonix.

Not feeling so arrogant any more, are you? Anyway back to 'Ignore' you go.

Oh, I really hit a nerve. GOOD!:smile::smile::smile:.

It just goes to show that certain people don't take s*** nearly as well as they can dish it out to others.

Bulldogg, Mmarsh & Phoenix80 tone down the insults and the rhetoric or there will be consequences to pay.

Yeah, all this will be irrelevent when we leave and Iraq turns into a bloody civil war full of death squads killing rival factions (including their women and children) indisciminately. The only other possible outcome is America stays in Iraq indefinitely, and many more lives are wasted on the Iraqis.

This impeachment will probably fail, but I know Dick Cheney deserves far worse.

Read the whole thread where there are outside sources to back up every single one of the DOD claims...

Just the simple fact that Iraqi's have many newspapers and are extremely diverse is a sign of progress unthinkable under Saddam.

Guess the fact that busloads of people are being rounded up and killed by firing squads, there are bombs sitting in crowded areas, and people who would resist are having their heads chopped off doesn't matter, yeah, reconstruction is just peachy.

Tenet: No 'serious debate' on Iraq war
Ex-CIA chief says Cheney, others pushed to invade
AP
WASHINGTON - Former CIA Director George Tenet writes in a new book that Vice President Dick Cheney and other administration officials pushed the country to invade Iraq without a "serious debate" about whether Saddam Hussein was an imminent threat.
In his book, "At the Center of the Storm," Tenet is largely positive about President Bush but lashes out at the vice president and others, according to The New York Times, which obtained a copy of the book ahead of its Monday release and described its contents in a story posted online Thursday night.
"There was never a serious debate that I know of within the administration about the imminence of the Iraqi threat," Tenet writes, adding that there was never "a significant discussion" about containing Iraq without an invasion.
'Surge' too late
Tenet also writes that he is not certain the increase in troops in Iraq will succeed, according to the Times. "It may have worked more than three years ago," he writes. "My fear is that sectarian violence in Iraq has taken on a life of its own and that U.S. forces are becoming more and more irrelevant to the management of that violence."
As part of a media tour to promote the book, Tenet has been interviewed by the CBS news magazine "60 Minutes," which on Thursday released excerpts of a broadcast scheduled for Sunday in which he contends that his now-infamous phrase "slam dunk" was taken out of context.
Slam dunk misrepresented
Uttered during a 2002 White House meeting, "slam dunk" was referring broadly to the case that could be made against Saddam Hussein, according to Tenet, not the dictator's alleged weapons of mass destruction.
"We can put a better case together for a public case. That's what I meant," Tenet said, explaining his remark for the first time in the CBS interview.
The phrase "slam dunk" was associated with Tenet after it was leaked by a senior administration official to author and journalist Bob Woodward. According to Woodward's book "Plan of Attack," Bush turned to Tenet during the meeting and asked if the information he had just presented on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction was the best Tenet had.
"It's a slam dunk case," Tenet replied, according to Woodward.
Cheney repeatedly used Tenet's "slam dunk" line to show that U.S. spy agencies had intelligence to support the main facet of the administration's argument for invading - that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
In the "60 Minutes" interview, Tenet said the administration misrepresented his comment and used it to shift blame as the debate heated up about the legitimacy of the Iraq invasion. Tenet, who served as CIA chief from 1997 to 2004, called the leak to Woodward "the most despicable thing that ever happened" to him.
A war decision on one remark
A former intelligence official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in advance of the release of Tenet's memoir next week, said everyone at the White House meeting - and many allies around the world - already believed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
The meeting was about what intelligence could be used publicly - an early effort to prepare the material that then-Secretary of State Colin Powell would present to the United Nations.
Breaking almost three years of silence, Tenet said it's unbelievable that the president would base his decision to go to war on his one remark.
"So a whole decision to go to war, when all of these other things have happened in the run-up to war? You make mobilization decisions, you've looked at war plans," Tenet said. "I'll never believe that what happened that day informed the president's view or belief of the legitimacy or the timing of this war. Never!"
Gordon Johndroe, spokesman for the White House's National Security Council, said the president decided to remove the Iraqi leader for a number of reasons - "mainly the National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq and Saddam's own actions." U.S. spy agencies quickly compiled the high-level estimate on Iraq in 2002, which included false allegations about the regime's efforts to pursue chemical, biological and nuclear weapons.
Johndroe declined to comment further because administration officials have not read Tenet's book or the interview's transcript.
Tenet said the hardest part has been listening to Cheney and others repeat the phrase. "I became campaign talk. I was a talking point. 'Look at the idiot (who) told us and we decided to go to war.' Well, let's not be so disingenuous," he said.

Speaker Pelosi's blind protection of the White House on this issue will not make her a friend of the White House, nor will it help her standing in the US Congress for the future, in my opinion.
