One of the symbols of Russia sky prowess, this is where the Sukhoi PAK-FA is undergoing battle tests at the moment

Some of Russia's most distinguished "eagles" (what air force pilots are often called here) have served at Lipetsk, including, for example, Major Vener Muhamedgareev

Served in Afghanistan. Later, tested SU-33, SU-37, and MiG-29. In 2008, awarded Hero of Russia, becoming 305th Hero of Russia or Soviet Union who comes from the Republic of Bashkortostan.

Not a base one would suspect of anything improper. Alas, a scandal has now erupted. Igor Sulim posted a message on his blog: http://lipflyer.livejournal.com/836.html

There, he talked of commanding officers on the base demanding kickbacks and bribes from lower ranked personnel for their lawfully earned salaries; intimidation against those who try to speak out; etc.

Now, he is not allowed to fly for the time being; confined to his quarters. We are all with him though. This young man has exposed what happens on so many bases in Russia every week, every day. He is fighting for all of us. :bravo:
