I just joined up. I ship out on the 29th of this month.

My MOS is 97 E, Human Intellegence Collector in the US Army. Basic at Fort Jackson and AIT at Fort Huachuca.

I was curious about after basic, how much to bring? What to NOT to bring? How is Fort Huachuca?

Anyone else here MI? If so what do you think of it?

18 weeks for human intellegence, then however long to learn a language (6 months to year and a half) THEN back for my intergator school.

So they are estimating about 2 years.

What can I say? I am a glutton for punishment.

Thanks guys!

I am a little scared but that is normal. My family has been filling my head with first week horror stories.

I'll be back for the Exodus so I'll let you all know how things went my first couple weeks of basic.

um what does AIT stand for?
what language do you think you will learn?

good luck with it all

Check these links out. It's very comprehensive on what to expect in boot camp and it gives you a pretty good rundown of what will go on. Good Luck!

and this particular link tells you what you need to bring, what not to bring, what to expect:

Hope it helps, and again, GOOD LUCK!!!

Fort jackson has a very friendly basic I hear. Benning on the other hand is pure hell. They are like the 2 poles.

I said a glutton for punishment, not a moron. JUST KIDDING!

The marines WERE leaning on me heavy but I figured I'd do better in the Army.

This is my final post until the 20th when I get back.

Thanks for the kind words of encouragment!
