The United States military indefinitely imposed tight restrictions on all personnel in Okinawa, limiting troops to bases, places of work or off-base housing, amid a furor over the arrest of a marine on suspicion of raping a junior high school girl on Feb. 10 and of several other marines on less serious charges since the weekend. The new restrictions tighten a midnight curfew and bar military personnel from leaving their bases except for official business, work, worship or travel to and from off-base housing.
