ROME, Feb. 7 — An American marine was ordered to stand trial in Italy in connection with the shooting death of a top Italian intelligence agent in Iraq in 2005. But the trial, set for April 17 in Rome, is likely to occur without the defendant.
United States officials cleared the marine, Specialist Mario Lozano, of any wrongdoing in the death of the agent, Nicola Calipari. The agent had just secured the release of an Italian journalist, Giuliana Sgrena, who was kidnapped in Baghdad.
It is the second trial in Italy involving Americans, and it is straining relations between the countries. Two dozen C.I.A. operatives face charges in Milan over the kidnapping there in 2003 of an Egyptian militant.

Freakin socialist courts of Italy... tis a shame they don't represent the majority of the people in Italy and their beliefs.

Where's Italian Guy when ya need him??
