Iraqis killing Iraqis .....

The US in the past 5 years has invaded 2 islamic countries and has dealth with nothing but problems so far. How is that any better than when a handful of muslims kill a handful of people. People are still dying and nothing has been done so far to stop it.

My point is that if Christians could justify killing another man because he didn't believe in their version of monotheism as was the case in the crusades, then wouldn't it make sense that another group of people could do the same with their religion? Christianity was supposed to be the religion of love and peace, but europeans had been killing each other for millenia even with fervent belief in christ. We now know they're wrong and christians don't justify going to war anymore because of their religion, except Bush of course.

It seems that you have the same problem with muslims giving a bad image to their religion because a minority of them is perceived by everyone else as being the end all fo islam. Most muslims don't feel that way, they are just trying to live in peace and not deal with the killers. Even buddhists have killed each other in large wars despite the popular image of buddhism as being the relgion of peace and respect.

The idea that a relgion can be used to justify killing can be applied to any religion, not just islam. That's the frustration muslims living in western nations have is that people assume they're a violent people because of the extremist sects. You want to know what Baghdad was also known as in the past? The city of peace, obviously that isn't the case right now but the islamic world used to be very advanced and calm compared to Europe. Things change but don't judge people by what a few do. If muslims all over the world judged christianity by Bush's views on his religion, then they would imagine us to justify killing as well.

America has more Muslims than Afghanistan...Other then the current opium problem in Afghanistan they are doing pretty good...

The Islamic world or "Muslim" religion is one of the worlds youngest, so I really don’t know what the hell you are talking about...

I'm sorry but it just seems you are poorly misguided into half truths and bent facts...

I think you're getting your population statistics messed up.

Though a growing number of Americans are Muslim, and several American Muslim groups have claimed as many as 7 million adherents, most polls show far smaller counts. According to a profile of the American Muslim population based on data from the CUNY American Religious Identification Survey, there were 1.1 million American Muslims in 2001, or 0.5 percent of the population, up from 0.3 percent in 1990. However, the researchers acknowledged that the current Muslim population may be as high as 2.8 million. 1 percent of the population, up from 0.3 percent in 1990. Afghanistan has a population of nearly 30,000,000 living in a near fuedal society. American muslims are generally well educated people who have very moderate views compared to he muslim population in other western countries. In fact, they fit right in to this country better than most immigrants or minorities.

The muslim religion is over 1400 years old, if something is over a thousand years old, how can that be considered young? Consider that all the protestant sects of christianity are much younger and the great schism between the catholic and orhtodox churches occurred in the 11th century after islam was well established. Scientology is a young religion, islam has matured through centuries of discussion and application of its guiding principles.

I'm not even muslim and i think i understand this religion enough to say that you don't know much besides what the news and biased points of view have told you about islam. It's not a perfect religion, especially in the way some people handle it, but neither is christianity when a lot of chaos and destruction occurred because of people's beliefs in that faith.

I learned about islam from an objective point of view and by understanding not just the religion but also the culture that it emanates from. Why do saharan african muslims not follow and even do things contrary to islamic law? It's in their culture. I suggest you learn more about this religion before you distrust it and throw it out the window. It's not the relgion, but the people behind it who change its image.

I was off on the whole Muslim population thing, teaches me for not looking into something when I hear it...Although your numbers are slightly askew as well yes Afghanistan has about 30 million people however 80% are Muslim and the rest are made of various religious beliefs...However that 80% is obviously more than the 8 Million in the USA...

Don’t know much about it...have you ever read any of the Qur’an??? I have done lengthy research on the religion from getting into debates whith people much like yourself....I don’t watch TV much and especially not the news...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Major_world_religions
There is some dates for you on religions...You will notice that out of the major religions Islam started well after the rest of them....

Your comment on African Muslims is interesting since Arabic Muslims do not accept African Muslims in their religion...Which surely someone like yourself who has learned so much about this religion would know that....You would know that to Arabic Muslims the color black is evil...You would also know that Arab Muslims use the term Black in relations to people as meaning "Slave"...

It's a hypocritcal religion...Ok for a point take this; an Islamic man is free to marry whoever he wants however an Islamic woman can ONLY marry an Islamic man....Gee I wonder why that is...

Mind you that this may not make much sense but demonstrates some of the research I have done into this religion....This was stuff I had posted on another forum in a debate about a Christian preacher converting to Islam....Here is the Google video that sparked the following

So then what was he talking about when his wife wanted a divorce? And no the women using seperate entrances was based on things I have read and documentaries I have watched about Saudi Arabia...

So i guess this Shiek does not know what he is talking about when he states that Muslim women CAN NOT wed a non-muslim man...

I also suppose that this wikipedia on it is wrong too
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_Islam

I also suppose that the McGill school of Architecture does not know what it is talking about when it talks about muslim men and women having to use seperate entrances...

It may be CBS but I suppose they are wrong too

You also forgot A LOT of religions but dont belive me look here (since aprently you think you know what I do and do not know)

I also found this article interesting it is titled
"The Origins of the Sunni/Shia split in Islam"
http://www.islamfortoday.com/shia.htm

Kindly note that the above article talks about the significant differences between two forms of Islam, Sunni and Shia....

-Edit

Also note that the Sahada can only be utterd in the house of Allah in other words a Mosque...therfore I heard him correctly when she did it a few hours later in a Mosque and not right there in the Christian Church... I suggest you do a little more research before claiming that you do in fact know what you are talking about. Also last time I checked everyones internet came with google....

Oh and you are right Yusuf Estes probly does do those lectures for free since he is a millionaire, self proclaimed even...But dont take my word for it take his...
http://www.famousmuslims.com/Yusuf Estes.htm

Check this out people (Sunni people even) talk about how Yusuf is misguided...You must read down before you get to his name....

Finally if you had read my post you would have seen that I am not in favor of any organzied religion per se....
