Reuters - Iraq's military is preparing an assessment that may acknowledge gaps in the country's security forces, according to two sources familiar with the matter, a move that could bolster arguments to extend the U.S. military presence in Iraq.

I'm surprised Gates said that we're not very popular there.
It's all a matter of where and by what groups.
The Kurds are desperate to keep us there. If we leave, they'll have to fight for their lives against Sunnis and Shias.
The Marsh Arabs want our continued presence because our withdrawal will put them at the mercy of Iran.
Educated and moderate Iraqis see us as a stabilizing force in an otherwise shattered society that was created without consideration of religious and ethnic realities.
I am willing to be we will continue to have some kinds of forces there as we have in Kosovo.:coffee:
