Iraqi authorities uncover plan to rocket the Saddam trial when it resumes
Monday

BAGHDAD, Iraq - (AP) Iraqi authorities uncovered a plot by a
Sunni Arab insurgent group to attack the trial of Saddam Hussein when it
holds its third hearing Monday, the government's national security adviser
said.
A statement released by the office of national security adviser
Mouwaffak al-Rubaie said the 1920 Revolution Brigades planned to fire
rockets at the court building during Monday's session.
The statement said Iraqi intelligence uncovered the plot but gave no
further details and did not say whether anyone had been arrested.
Saddam and seven co-defendants are on trial for the 1982 killing of
Shiite Muslims in the town of Dujail following an assassination attempt
against him there. The defendants face the death penalty if convicted.
