BAQUBA, Iraq, Dec 6 (AFP) - An Iraqi army colonel and his driver were found
shot dead on the road between Baghdad and Baquba, 60 kilometers (35 miles)
to the north, said police.
The two men, who were not in uniform and in a private car, were killed in a
drive-by shooting at around 10:00 am (0700 GMT), added police. They were
believed to be headed for Baghdad.
The restive town of Baquba was the site of an insurgent ambush on an Iraqi
army convoy on Saturday that killed 19 troops.
