BAGHDAD, Iraq - (AP) A suicide attacker set off explosives hidden
beneath his clothing outside an Iraqi army recruitment center in northwest
Iraq on Wednesday, at least killing 30 Iraqis and wounding 35, officials
said.
The blast occurred at 10 a.m. near the first of two checkpoints
outside the center in Tal Afar, where men were gathering to apply for jobs
there, said army Capt. Raad Ahmed and Brig. Najim Abdullah, the town's
police chief.
On Tuesday, a suicide bomber plowed his explosives-packed vehicle
into a crowded outdoor market in Tal Afar, killing 30 Iraqi civilians and
wounding 45.
In August, U.S. and Iraqi forces conducted a major offensive in Tal
Afar, 150 kilometers (93 miles) east of the Syrian border, claiming to have
killed 200 insurgents and driving many others out of the small town
