DUBAI, Dec 25 (Reuters) - Al Qaeda's wing in Iraq said on Sunday it
had abducted and killed three Arab women and an Arab man working for U.S.
authorities and the Iraqi government, according to a Web posting.
A statement posted on the Internet carried pictures of four identity
cards and said it had carried out "God's judgment". It was not immediately
clear whether the four were Iraqis.
One of the cards, apparently issued by a U.S. security contracting
firm, said one of the women worked as a translator.
The women's faces were blacked out in the posting, apparently in
line with the group's strict interpretation of Islam which includes a ban on
showing women's faces.
The statement could not be immediately authenticated. But it was
posted on a site used by insurgent groups and signed with a name previously
used as that of al Qaeda's spokesman in Iraq.
Abductions and killings of women have been rare in Iraq, where
thousands of civilians have been kidnapped by insurgents or gangs seeking
ransom since the fall of Saddam Hussein's government.
