BAQUBA, Iraq, Dec 1 (AFP) - An Islamic militant group with links to Al-Qaeda
distributed leaflets in the confessionally mixed province of Diyala,
northeast of Baghdad, Thursday threatening to behead Shiite civilians in the
run-up to this month's parliamentary elections.

"It is important that you help the mujahideen to reveal and identify the
apostates so that we can behead them," said the Omar Brigade in pamphlets
distributed in markets, bus stations and residential neighbourhoods in the
provincial capital of Baquba.

The group accused the long oppressed majority community of collaborating
with the "Jews against the Muslims of Iraq" and called on Sunnis to help
kill Shiites "in support of jihad and on the promise of entry into
paradise."
