BAGHDAD, Nov 17 (AFP) - An independent candidate in Iraq's December 15
general elections was kidnapped by armed men Thursday evening at his home,
an interior ministry source said.
Tawfic al-Yasseri, a candidate on the minor "national council" list, was
abducted in the Yarmuk neighbourhood in the west of the capital, the source
said.
The armed men, who took the candidate away to a unknown location, were
travelling in several cars.
