Iraq deaths are lowest since July '06
BAGHDAD - The number of American troops and Iraqi civilians killed in the war fell in September to levels not seen in more than a year, an Iraqi government official and an independent monitoring group said yesterday.
The general downward trend in violence was apparent in the decline, to 64, in the number of U.S. service members killed last month, from 84 in August, the U.S. military reported yesterday. It was the lowest monthly total since July 2006.
