Most euro zone ministers in Brussels that night failed to notice, continuing to pore over the details of the multi-billion-euro deal. I can understand France's declining interest.

Let's be honest about it, the whole concept of the EU and the "Common Market" before it, is a complete farce where the countries who do practice fiscal responsibility, are left holding the can for those who see it as a bottomless pit of money for them to squander. It promotes waste and overproduction of unsaleable items, even paying farmers not to harvest or sell their unwanted crops.

So long as there are perceived borders and nationalistic interests it is doomed to long term failure.
