Kinda looks like the mother was a French delta-wing Dassault fighter and the father was the Eurofighter. :)

Hi,

The Naval LCA is intended for carrier operations aboard the Indian Navy's future Air Defence Ship. At a press conference in Mumbai on 06 January 2004, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Madhvendra Singh stated that two prototypes of the Naval LCA have been ordered and the first flight of the aircraft is expected in 2007. He also stated that the aircraft is expected to be operational by 2009-10.

any foreign customer for this bird?
First it has to Fulfill the Domestic need ......... IAF has just recently Ordered 126 LCA's ........... Tejas is supposed to Form the backbone of IAF by 2010 and replace all the Aging Jets like Mig 21 , Mig 23 ........... so it would be required in High Numbers by IAF itself .......... And the Medium Combat Aircraft (MCA) is Supposed to Fulfill the MRCA needs of a heavy Aircraft.

Medium Combat Aircraft [MCA] is projected as the replacement for the Jaguar and Mirage 2000 fleets in the IAF.

AS for LCA tejas It's a Small and cheap Aircraft so Developing Asian and African nations Could be Interested in it ......... It's still under Development lets see how it work out

But For Everythign to Work out This is the Key .......... the Highly ambitious Kaveri engine which will power both LCA and MCA.

Kaveri engine is a two-spool bypass turbofan engine having three stages of transonic low pressure compressor driven by a single-stage low pressure turbine. The core engine consists of six-stage transonic compressor driven by single-stage cooled high pressure turbine. The engine is provided with a compact annular combustor with airblast atomisers. The aerothermodynamic and mechanical designs of engine components have been evolved using many in-house and commercially developed software for solid and fluid mechanics.

The Vurrent Verson of LCA tejas is Running on G.E 404 Engine .......... it will Run on GE Engine Until the Kaveri is Complete.

nice.what amount of payload can it carry?

Seven weapon stations provided on LCA offer flexibility in the choice of weapons LCA can carry in various mission roles.

LCA Armament : internally mounted GSh-23mm twin barrel gun with 220 rounds of ammunition Seven external hardpoints, can carry air-to-air missiles, air-to-surface missiles, anti-ship missiles, rocket launchers and ECM pods

Maximum External Stores Load: 4000kg (8818 lbs.)

Fuel Capacity: Internal fuel capacity - 3000 liters

Costs of LCA versus other aircraft (Millions)
