The
Indian Finance Minister, presenting the general budget for the next fiscal in the Lok Sabha (Indian Parliament) stated that the Military Budget
for the next fiscal will be
Rs 1,93,407 crore. It is a hike of
17% from the previous fiscal budget alloted to the Defence wing of the
Republic of India. The minister added that the budget hike is to push further it's rapid military modernization. The budget stands at
US $ 41 billion. India's continuous
economic growth and the factor of procuring raw materials for
her enormous need for future is pushing India hard to change her focus from
regional to continental level. As India is a growing economy, thus
need to have a
powerful defense system to safeguard her interests in
the
Middle-East, Eastern Asia and Asia pacific Region. Also India's relationship with her western neighbor
Pakistan and Northern Neighbor
China is not friendly and thus always need to remain war ready. Indian Military establishments need more allocation of funds than the 17% alloted for the present fiscal to upgrade her military hardware and procuring extensive hi-tech arms and ammunition to be able to protect itself from any external threats and to safeguard her interests in the continental level.
